Taisho Taketo demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the National League Player of the Week Award.
The Philadelphia right fielder wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .375 average (9-24) with 5 home runs and 6 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor.

There's nothing like being in the prime of your baseball career -- and playing like it. Just ask Daryl Keeley, the Oakland designated hitter, who swung a sweet bat all week to not only aid his team, but also pick up the American League Player of the Week honors.
Keeley piled up 13 hits in 23 at-bats, 6 home runs and 12 RBIs while hitting .565.

 | Sunday, April 10th, 2022: Hit Parade: Blanes Pops 5 Hits
Isidoro Blanes told the press after his 5-hit day, "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate. He wants to hit the ball hard."
Well, that's just what Blanes of the Baltimore Orioles did against the Los Angeles (A) Angels. He went to the plate 5 times and 5 times he delivered base hits, much to the chagrin of the Angels, who suffered a 10-1 defeat.
"Not much that I can say," offered the losing manager, "he just hammered the heck out of us."
I. Blanes singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
This season Blanes has hit 2 home runs and posted a .458 batting average. |
